Sree narayana guru college is one of the oldest and famous college college under the Calicut University.  It offers instruction in various disciplines at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.The college and its hostels are open to students of all castes and creeds and provide amenities for the creation of a healthy cosmopolitan atmosphere on the campus.... 

SNG College AIMS

                           The institution looks upon education as an instrument of socio-economic progress, material advancement, political development and moral and ethical development for individuals in the society.    The college stands for academic excellence and character formation with an emphasis on human values and scientific temper.

                         The aim of the college is to train the youth to fit them properly into the modern age of science and technology and be of use the society and humanity at large. It also aims at eradicating from their minds all traces of provincialism, communalism and sectarianism and above all make them worthy disciples of Sree Narayana Guru and living embodiments of his ideals.

Facilities in the college

Library

Our library is well equipped automated with internet facility. There is a collection of more than 24000 books and manuscripts including very rare manuscripts. The college also subscribes to over 40 national and state level journals. The library is divided into two sections, Reference and General. Books for reference are reserved for consultation in library and are not lent out. The reference section has over 1000 books.
The library will be kept open from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm on all days except on Sundays and Public Holidays.

Physical Training

In the new Choice Based Credit and Semester System the physical training and conditioning has acquired an important role. Every student is required to undergo a course of physical training prescribed by the University. The college has a football field for practice which can also be used for conducting athletic meet. The college has a very good football team which won the C-Zone Football Championship of the Calicut University during this academic year. Moreover college has cricket, vollyball teams

National Service Scheme (N.S.S.)

The N.S.S is an All India Scheme initiated by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Management for implementation in colleges affiliated to the Universities. Admission into N.S.S. is voluntary and selective. Only those self disciplined students who have the leisure, willingness and attitude for sustained social work can seek admission to this programme. The overall objective of the N.S.S. is the education of students through community service. The scheme is expected to inculcate in the students a sense of the need to participate in nation building by providing creative outlet for their energies.

Presently there are two units in this college. Each unit has strength of 50 students. Volunteers who complete 240 hours of work and attend one special camp of 7 days duration is eligible for a certificate issued by the University.

Grace Marks: N.S.S. certificate holders are eligible for a weigtage of 15 marks for Degree admissions. Students who wish to join Calicut University are eligible to get 5% grace marks for P.G. admissions.

Compulsory Social Service (C.S.S.)

With a view to better articulating theoretical knowledge gained by students with practical knowledge, the University has decided to make 42 days of social work compulsory for each student before qualifying for the degree courses. A committee constituted with Principal as the chief coordinator and including al Heads of Departments, N.C.C. Officers, N.S.S. programme Officers etc, as members will function for the implementation of C.S.S. The Plan, nature of work under the scheme, the activities scheduled and general programme related to C.S.S. shall be prepared by this committee. Cooperation from Govt., 3 level Panchayat Raj System, Hospitals and other quasi Govt. institutions may be sought for its implementation.

Computer Facility
 In addition to the regular practical classes the advanced computer laboratory provides internet facility and short term courses like MS Office, DTP, Website design etc. at affordable rates. The LCD projector helps the teachers to adopt modern teaching methods.
